Detroit River Walleye

Spring on the Detroit River offers some of the best walleye fishing in the country. In the months of April and May the river becomes inundated with spawning walleye. This creates a fantastic fishery for both numbers of walleye and the chance to catch a trophy fish. Vertical jigging is the name of the game.  Whether you are experienced in vertical jigging or not, Captain Dean will take the time to instruct you on the basics.  If you are experienced, he will surely have a many tips to share. The fishing can be both in Michigan and Canadian waters.  Possessing a license for both jurisdictions will be key some days to the best fishing.

Lake Erie Walleye

Lake Erie is the king of walleye fishing, period. The walleye population is currently extremely high, and fishing is fantastic. June brings great fishing in the Michigan waters of Lake Erie. Charters leave from ports near Monroe, Michigan, and the fish are usually nearby.

In the fall and early winter, the Ohio ports near Sandusky offer a great opportunity to land a trophy fish. This area also is packed with large numbers of “eater” size fish. Book your trip today for a walleye fishing adventure to remember.

Kids / Family Charters

Late May on the Detroit River brings a massive run of silver bass that are easy to catch and fight well for their size. This is a great time to book a family fishing trip or use this as an opportunity to teach kids.  Young anglers will be pleased with an opportunity to catch a fish almost every cast. Adults will also delight in this, and experienced anglers can catch hundreds of fish each on the trip. If you have never experienced this bite it is not to be missed.

Lake Erie Steelhead

Lake Erie steelhead is an untapped resource.  The fish are big, powerful, acrobatic, always unpredictable, and a blast to catch. Mid to late summer, fish gather on the northern Canadian shore of Lake Erie between Wheatley and Erieau, Ontario. Along with the steelhead, walleye are also present in large numbers.  This is a trolling bite with planer boards, lead core, divers, and downriggers. This is a great time to brush up on your deep-water techniques.  A Canadian fishing license is required, and you will need to drive across the border to your port.

Lake Michigan Salmon

Lake Michigan in late summer can be flat out fantastic for king salmon, steelhead, lake trout, and coho. August is the time when the Lake Michigan ports heat up specifically for King Salmon.  The salmon are big this year with a chance to catch a 30 pound plus fish every trip.  Coolers fill fast with many salmon pushing 20 pounds.
